History - O.L. Thompson Construction Co., Inc.

OL Thompson Construction Co., Inc was founded by OL Thompson Jr over 60 years ago as a small grading and hauling company. The company, based in Hanahan, SC, saw steady growth and in 1973 was taken over by OL Thompson III.

Since then the company has become one of the largest and most stable contracting firms in South Carolina. It has diversified by developing related enterprises that add strength to its core business model. Thompson Trucking, Wando Concrete, LLC, and various Development, Material and Management companies all combine to provide a broad base of support.

The companies are moving forward with a strong continuity plan. In 2003 O.L.Thompson, III moved to the position of CEO with David Hand an engineer with over 20 years with the firm succeeding him as President. In addition, long time employees Trent Kirk, Dan Thompson, and Matt Thompson were named Vice Presidents. Continuity is reinforced by the transfer of ownership shares in the companies to management. This succession plan and management transfer has been implemented to provide a smooth transition for the next generation of employees and to ensure the continued success of the companies for decades to come.
