Pit Operations / Materials Recycling

OL Thompson has been operating borrow pits in the Charleston area for most of its 60 year history.

Cainhoy Pit – Located off of Clements Ferry Rd near I-526. This 125 acre pit offers a centrally located source of select sand fill and topsoil. In addition to dirt sales we also accept clean topsoil and spoil material for disposal. We also accept concrete and asphalt demolition materials for recycling.

Blessing East Pit - Located on Charity Church road near Highway 41 in Berkeley County , SC. This pit is open for fill dirt sales.

Carnes Pit - Located in Goose Creek, SC on Highway 176 near Highway 17 A. This pit provides select fill, sand clay, and topsoil.

Environmentally Responsible:
Each and every borrow operation is operated in an environmentally conscious manner with attention to, wildlife, water quality , community impact and reclamation.

Sewee Preserve is an excellent example of the final results of a completed commercial operation. This scenic lake in the heart of a natural residential preserve was recently a busy pit operation. As the sand supply diminished the pit was transformed into a recreational amenity teeming with wildlife
